Happy Miles' Day

Monday, 22 February 2010 ·

Hello dear friends and readers.

I missed last week's blog, mainly due to my lack of free time and also because it was my birthday. First let me say the title above doesn't mean I'm that self-obsessed, it just sounded fun, it's not the first time in my life people take the piss on my birthday being February 14th. Let me say how happy I was to get so many messages online from friends, wishing me a happy birthday. Thank you all very much.
I managed to get three days off from my burger flipping job to maybe do something special on my 30th, but at the end my lack of finance got in the way. At the last minute my dear mother gave me a great present, an investigation for me, even better, a church investigation.

I cannot tell you the town where I was, that would give away the actual church and I promised the priest I wouldn't do it. But it was somewhere in West Midlands. This was not going to be one of my best ones, starting with the fact I only had 3 days to do it, but the priest was a bit desperate to get something done quickly. Apparently he's been losing his audience due to the strange happenings in his House.

I jumped on a train straight after work on Saturday night to give me an extra night to investigate. First night of baseline readings, I set up video and audio recording equipment, setting up one of my thermometers in front of a camcorder and keeping one on me to register the temperature in different areas of the church. It was a big building and you cannot believe how many noises you can hear inside a place that big. The building itself keeps you awake. Nothing much to report after the first night. Voices can be heard almost all night, but I could identify them as people passing by outside and creating such an acoustic effect that one feels like they're right next to you. I reported that to the priest and he was relieved to hear that and would be glad to tell the community, as that was the main reason for a lot of people to believe the church was haunted.
Second night came and after establishing the baseline readings I spent big amounts of time in specific dark rooms and corners. I could feel a certain cold air coming and going inside the priest's anteroom, definitely something to be checked the following night. What surprised me were the several strange noises my EVP recorder picked up in that room. Nothing else was picked up anywhere else in the church, so I added that to my list for my 3rd night.

This is getting too long, so what about holding the end of the story for next week?

I know, I seem to do that a lot. It’s good, it keeps you guessing and entertained.

Until next week.

Miles.
