When Your Time is Up

There are things in life that no matter how much you prepare yourself or try and delay and avoid it, they end up catching up with you at some point. Like going to the dentist. I had been dodging my turn in the chair for a long time, but there were no more excuses, I had to go.

I know what you're thinking. There's nothing paranormal there. Unless your dentist holds practice at a really old house with strange noises everywhere. Mine doesn't but if anyone knows a dentist in or around London with a strange place as practice, please let me know.

The reason why I'm mentioning this is the elderly gentleman having a root canal done in the room next to mine, while I was having a check up. He was screaming and wailing in pain as his dentist worked on him. That brought to mind something I had read in my Dad's journals that gave me the creeps, a story I started telling on this blog months ago but never got to finish.

So here it goes the second part. The first part was posted on 09th January 2009 with the title A Look Back.

'As Ms Plummers went to bed on the third night, I felt a temperature drop and had a look around the house to check all the readings. By measuring and comparing results I started to suspect that whatever was causing the anomalies seemed to appear only when Ms Plummers was around. By narrowing the changes I found the main area of activity to be not in her bedroom, but just outside. I stood outside with a video camera and audio recorder, sitting there waiting for something to happen. There was another small drop in the temperature and I was alert to any activity that could happen outside the bedroom, where I was standing. Both me and Ms Plummers were surprised by what happened next. A very loud scream came from inside the bedroom. I quickly ran in thinking that Ms Plummers had seen something and was startled, instead, she was sitting up on her bed, looking shocked towards the empty half of the bed, from where another very loud scream came from. We were both taken aback by the power of that sound. It was obvious it was a male voice screaming with all his strenghts, except there was no one to be seen. I have to admit that I had never felt so terrified in my investigating life. It was not the fact there were screams, it was the sheer power of it, going through your ears and almost paralysing your whole body. Ms Plummers looked at me when another scream came, a wail more like. I tried and give her a reassuring look, but I could not hide the shock in my expression. As soon as the last scream stopped she got up and ran towards were I was standing. I reached over to the wall and turned the lights on. Ms Plummers looked very pale and scared and I could only guess I looked the same. The sound of someone gasping was heard, as if someone is ready to scream again, but nothing came. I broke the silence to check on Ms Plummers and we both went down to the kitchen to try and make sense of what just happened. As I was told, Mr Plummers had a very strong and fatal heart attack and all he managed to do before dying was gasp in pain and there was it. Ms Plummers believed her husband's pain had stayed behind to haunt her, and the screams made her theories more valid. I promised her to run a cleaning tour of the house to try and send that energy away and we were done for the night. I have never encountered something that loud and shocking and terrifying ever since.'

Very weird activity, very interesting report and the only time ever I have seen my father using the word fear and terror applied to himself. I cannot say much, as the story has scared me just by reading it.

Hope I have satisfied those who have waited long to read the end of that story.

Also, I got some comments from my Facebook friends that my writing style has changed a bit. I appreciate the critique. Since working on my book I have read a lot about writing techniques and styles and I am hoping that some of it will show on my posts on this blog.

Thanks once more for all the support.

Take care, everyone.

The Insane Nature of Being

Wednesday, 3 June 2009 · 0 comments

It seems to me we humans have a natural tendency to make things harder for ourselves and specially for those around us.

If we stop to look around it seems very clear. From relationships to friendships, family, sports and the worst of all, business.

I have a business now, I started it to be able to make things easier for those who believe and want to pursue the same interests I have. The paranormal and the scientific proof left behind by those who have left this world. As it is our nature, I made things a lot harder for myself.

For the past three months I have been dealing with a selection of problems that decided to join forces to make my life difficult. I'm sure I am not the only one in the country affected by the financial crisis, but there were some sides of it I thought I would not see, like the lawyer supposedly helping me and my mother with my father's will. Suffice to say I should consider the lawyer part of the family, based on how much he got out of the inheritance. The rest of my share went for another dynamic duo, a lawyer and an accountant, who were helping me set up my school and helping themselves to the money.

No more whining, it had to be done. Good news is that I'm not dealing with those characters anymore. Bad news is that I'm not dealing with them because the funding well is almost dry and the school will have to wait.

I'm still doing my investigations, though.

I went over to this town in Kent called Strood. Nice place, not too far from London. The part of the town I visited had a lot of big supermarkets, warehouses and big truck stops, but it also had small terraced houses squeezed in between all that. I was called by this lady who's my mother's high school friend who's moved to that town with her husband and now runs a nice little home made food restaurant. The restaurant is clean of any activity, but the same cannot be said of her house next door.
I'm not one to feel any difference in the air as I go in a haunted place, but there was something particularly cold about that place. To be certain that wasn't just an effect of the house itself I went into two neighbours houses and got my first reassurance that something was not right in the lady's house. Following on other investigators and people like me, I decided to sit down for a long chat with the lady to get more info on her family and the previous dwellers of that house.

What I got from her just made my investigation harder, a recurring theme, I know. Apparently the previous owner was an eccentric woman who considered herself to be a witch reincarnated, and so she had lots of books and items on the subject. My first reaction was to think the woman might have left a massive residual energy in the house. Only to find out later in the conversation that my mother's friend husband had a first wife who died about a year earlier and the anniversary of her death coincided with the start of the activity.

I went in for the first night prepared as usual and holding all the information I got from the chat. All the initial reading showed me there was something particular about the house, but i could not establish one area with stronger readings. It was the whole place. The night went on without incidents. The only strange things were the two different sets of temperature in different parts of the house, like it was divided, the rooms on one side had a different reading than the ones on the other side.

After three nights with no activity to show, other than the strange readings, I requested to spend one or two nights in the next door neighbour's house. They kindly accepted and they even left to stay with a relative. I left a small set of equipment to take readings while I was away and a camcorder in the bedroom and moved houses for the night. I stayed up all night and heard a lot of walking noises coming from the house next door. In the morning I asked the lady and she said she did not get up once during the night but she had strange dreams of people arguing in her living room. She could not remember details, and dreams are not really my strong point, so I left her there for another night. This time around her husband was there too, back from a business trip. I set up a second camcorder in the living room and some more equipment and went away once more.

That night I heard more noises of people walking around the house and even heard voices. Around 3am I got a call from the lady's husband on my mobile saying they woke up with shouting going on outside their bedroom. I confirmed that I heard the same and made my way back to the house. As I went inside I could feel the difference in the air from the night I spent in there. It was colder, when the weather outside was warmer than the other night. With me around there were no noises or activity, so I went back to the other house and waited till morning to check the equipment and recordings. Based on what they told me of their dreams and voices they heard outside their bedroom, the couple believes the witch and the ex-wife are arguing about being in the house.

By watching the video I could hear the white noises coming from the bedroom camera and the clear female voices coming from the living room, and alse there were some changes in the light the camera was capturing at times, the same effect when someone passes in front of the camera, except there was no one.

I confirmed their theory of the women arguing inside their place and all I could do was give them some fending off techniques I've read from Ted Thornby. I haven't heard from them since, so I imagine it's working.

I hope that was entertaining, dear readers. I know it's a long one, but I didn't want to break yet another story in half, when I already owe my readers a couple of endings for previous posts.

I will post them soon, I promise.

Until them, peace and enjoy the sun, it will keep the bad spirits away.
