Open Call for TV

Sunday, 30 November 2008 · 0 comments

So i went to the open call for Knuts and Bolts new TV series 'I Want To Believe' with my friends Wesley and Carl (Both of who i met working at Borders) we got a chance to meet a few of my facebook buddies and some of whom had actually read my blog and been following my little stories. There was definitely some interesting people there, mediums, paranormal enthusiasts, just a few people who wanted to go on a ghost hunt. I was very sad not to have had the chance to meet Ted Thornby, as i have become a fan over the years and never had the chance.

Jessica Foreman seemed very nice, a little uptight, but nice. She asked me and my friends a few simple questions, nothing too invading, and we were in and out in five minutes.

Of the few people i met, two girls had a lasting impression on me. Melanie and Josie, or Josie and Melanie. They had just started their own blog over at http://sexyghosthunting.blogspot.com/. Its an interesting take on ghost hunting really. They love the paranormal and fashion, why not put the two together, makes sense to me. They have also started something of a fashion label too - JAM - its fashion inspired by the supernatural - they explained a few ideas that they had, and i want a T-shirt, keep an eye on their blog for upcomming designs.

I also met two very interesting Film Makers - i can't say too much - at least i don't think so - according to the release form i had to sign - but they are making a documentary about paranormal enthusiasts, i spoke to them for a bit and it may be possible that I'll be appearing in some form or another on the film - how cool is that? Miles Cason - the Movie Star! (I wish)

Anyway, the books going good - 301 pages down, i have no idea how many left to go. I'm gonna crack on with that for a bit and i have a few possible investigations coming up - more about that next time.

Memories of a past Investigation

It was a Wednesday afternoon and i was helping dad sort out a few things, old books, papers etc, when we came across one of his many old diaries. It was weired, because all of dads diaries were kept, in the house, in the same place. He pondered to why this one might be amongst all of this and came to the conclusion that he must have thought he lost it, and just moved on. We began flicking through it and found out that it was a diary from 1980. Some of the note were bleak, just your average diary really but then we flicked into something long forgotten.

On the 25Th of January 1980, just 20 days before i was born my father was asked to investigate a family home in Battersea. It was the home of the Faulkner family, Mr and Mrs Faulkner and their three children, Molly, Charlie and Kelly. He was asked to investigate when the parents had gone to their church minister and discussed the possibility of their eldest, Molly, being possessed by some sort of demon.

In the night time, it was not uncommon for Molly to get out of bed, walk into the hallway and begin banging frantically on the far wall, screaming for help and asking to leave. In fact, on many nights the parents were so distraught that it had not become an uncommon practice to strap Molly to her bed. Molly had also began cutting herself with any sharp object she could find, tearing away at her skin. At any time, Molly would explain that she knew nothing of her actions and that she felt as if she were asleep. In a time of desperation, they sought the advice of the only person they could trust.

My Father was recommended to them, the local minister could do nothing for them, he was not in that line of work for the church, but he knew my father and would recommend him to the, literally hundred who all have similar problems.

My Father visited the house, open minded and skeptical as usual, to see what he could find. He bought no equipment with him on the first night, something that would soon become a routine, and he just sat in the living room, getting a "feel" for the place.

He sat in the hall for most of the night, just waiting as he remembers. It must have been four in the morning when what he was waiting for happened. Molly walked out of her bedroom - eyes wide - but he could see that she was asleep. He had seen sleepwalkers before and said that even though their eyes are open, you can look into them and see nothing. Molly walked over to the wall that she has been known to bang on and stood there in front of it, but she did nothing. She waited for a moment, as did my father - he didn't want to move a muscle, so as not to disturb or wake her. He said that it lasted a few moments, but felt like hours, she just stood there, doing nothing - as if - she had fallen back to sleep right there and that's when she turned to him - walked over - and sat down. She sat right in front of him and looked him in the eyes. He could see that she was still asleep, but he explained that he felt something about this girl, it would soon come to light that she was not asleep, she was possessed, by what - to this day my father still doesn't know for sure. She sat, he watched and waited. "Why are you here?" she asked him. He explained that he was there to try and help. She said that help was not needed there. She told my father to leave.

Now, the one thing about my father is that if he was ever faced with an entity, ghost, spirit or demon and is given a clear warning to leave, he takes it.

He returned the next evening and spoke to Molly about the night before, she remembered none of it as usual. He explained to the family that he would return to the house after his son - me - was born as he didn't want to miss anything, but he was sure that even though bad things happened - the cutting in particular, it seemed to be random, he was sure that nothing worse was going to happen.

Twelve days later, the house burned down in the middle of the night, everyone inside died. The cause of the fire was a supposed candle left overnight in the living area.
My father felt responsible for their death, he felt that it may have not been an accident, but no one will ever be able to tell. To this day, every year he walks by what was that house and thinks about how it may have been, my father's a big fan of IF.

Anyway - on a lighter note - I'm heading to the open call for the TV show 'I Want to Believe' on Saturday, I've been given a 3pm time slot - hope to see some of you there.

So who wants to be on TV?

Another week, another blog.

I was going to do just a quick blog about the new investigation i started this week, but not much has really happened, and i though that i would save it all up for next week.

Anyway, the book is going strong. Typed 174 pages thus far, and its really getting exciting. I even managed to scare myself the other day with some of the stuff that i was writing.

So earlier this week, a producer joined my facebook group and stuck a message on the wall saying:

We are looking for paranormal enthusiasts to be part of our new TV show. Head over to the Knuts and Bolts group to get details. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?sid=74ea7215ac5b6a3046668710acbe5e1a&refurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fs.php%3Fref%3Dsearch%26init%3Dq%26q%3Dknuts%2Band%2Bbolts%26sid%3D74ea7215ac5b6a3046668710acbe5e1a&gid=44609646479.

I headed over to the group, joined up, and emailed the producer;

jessica@knutsandbolts.com

It wasn't too long after i got this message back.

Hi Miles,

Thanks for the email, we checked out your blog and it seems like you're the kind of person we are looking for.

Here's some info on our project.

The main aim of our show is to run proper investigations in real places, with real history, staying in the place for at least three nights, aiming for four to five nights. The format of the shows investigations was developed by the highly experienced Ghost Hunter Ted Thornby, who will be in all episodes as our resident Ghost Hunter, together with medium Pieter Morgan, who himself has a long history of paranormal investigations and support to TV shows.

Our aim is to collect hard evidence to prove the existence of a paranormal entity or entities in the place we're investigating. We are working closely with the BBC, with people from the broadcaster overlooking our production to then pick it up for TV, depending on the success of filming the pilot.

We are a small company and the crew will be minimal too, which should help us create a good environment for all to work in.

The idea so far regarding the guests is to select a group of 8 enthusiasts for every two episodes, again, depending on how well the making of the pilot goes. With 12 planned episodes that would give this opportunity to at least 48 people. The number of guests is also an idea from Thornby, who believes with this amount of people we can run the investigations smoothly and give the audience different points of view coming from the guests.

I hope this information helps you and your friends decide to join us on this journey.

Let us know if you're gonna show up at the auditions on November 29th in Central London. If there are more people you know would be interested, just let us know their full name and email address.

We will be emailing everyone next week with details of the auditions.

So, if this sounds like something you would be interested in, i suggest you drop the company an email. Who knows, maybe some of us will finally get the chance to meet.

Until next week.....

On all hallows eve.....

I know, i know, its been like two weeks since my last blog, but so many things have been happening, i hadn't had a second to think. Other than a few private investigations, i have begun work on a book. Its a work of fiction, but it is paranormal based, and i have stolen bits of fact from my life. The only thing that i can tell you at the moment is that the title of the book is, "From Within" and it involves a paranormal investigator on route to his first exorcism. Depending on if i can sell this, or get an agent, i might turn it into a series of novels. I know that many of you were hoping that i would document my family history for my first novel, but i don't think I'm ready for that, not yet anyway.

So i spent Halloween the same way that i have spent every Halloween all my life, with my parents. We play a few game of scrabble, but this year my father was feeling a little under the weather, so at around Seven, he headed off to bed, and mum and me were left to play. After a single game, i lost - to the word 'abate' with a triple score, and left me nowhere to go, i was defeated. It was then that i decided that i should conduct an interview with my mum, much like i had done with my father before, and like she had promised she would.

The following is a transcript of the interview - i'll probably get the Mp3 up on here soon.

Miles: Mum, i want to start with the story on how you met dad.

Mum: I met your father two days after he met me. He came to my fathers house after my incident to see if i was doing OK.

Miles: What was the fascinating thing about him that made you want to date him?

Mum: (Laughs) he was shy & quiet, but once you got him talking, you couldn't stop him. He had such passion in everything he talked about. He could very well change your opinion on most things because he could speak with such conviction of his opinions.

Miles: But not on religion?

Mum: No, not on religion.

Miles: Why not?

Mum: Because its a lot harder to change a lifetime of beliefs.

Miles: Staying on subject for a moment, you were brought up in a very religious (Catholic) environment and continue to live to this day, a very religious life.

Mum: Yes.

Miles: How do you feel about dad and his non religious ways and thinking?

Mum: I'm not happy with it, but its his life and i think that he will come around, like most do. It's not like he doesn't believe in god, he just doesn't like the idea of organised religion.

Miles: His father was a priest, who worked for the church for a long time. Do you not find it weired that he never followed in his footsteps.

Mum: No, not really.

Miles: I have asked a few times before, he usually avoids the question, very well, do you know why he never did?

Mum: Yes.

Miles: Can you elaborate?

Mum: Um... i would say that when his mother died, he lost all interest in religion and faith. he became very frustrated and confused. His father spent years searching for the spirit of his lost wife and slowly became depressed and what some might call, a little crazy. He began talking to himself and shouting at your father. He quit his job and became obsessed with searching for ghosts, i think this is where he sort of started the whole ghost hunting thing. He began telling your father these horror stories about the church, about the things that they would make him do.

Miles: What kind of things?

Mum: You will have to speak to your father about that. *

Miles: I've sort of taken my fathers view on religion. Do you hope that one day i will maybe turn to yours?

Mum: You are very much your fathers son, but i think that life is a fascinating and incredible journey, and sometimes we have to go a different way to end up in the same place.

Miles: So yes.

Mum: yes

Miles: Lets get off religion and onto my fathers work, and lately mine.

Mum: Your fathers work is very important to him, and in a way he does something that is important to everyone. It helps a lot of people understand the world beyond our own and helps a lot of people with bereavements too. I am happy that you have followed in his footsteps and now you are beginning to help people too, sometimes i just fell that you are a little more open and more fearless, i think you are a little too adventurous, and are willing to risk a little more.

Miles: Sometimes you come along with us on our little ghost hunts, why is that?

Mum: I only ever come for two reasons, one, for support. I hate it when you and your father are heading to somewhere where you know that there are negative spirits, and you are putting yourselves in harms way, just to gather a little evidence. Other times it is to offer what i can in the way of my semi-clairvoyance.

Miles: Yes, can you tell us a bit about that?

Mum: After my Incident. I developed what some may call, clairvoyance. I began to hear and sometimes see the recently passed. My mother told me that it was a curse, my father was pretty much ready to give me up for adoption, so i began to suppress this recently acquired skill, if you would call it that. For years i never spoke, or mentioned all the things that i could see and hear. That all changed when i met your father. It wasn't immediately, but it was not long before we were married. I was on a ghost hunt type thing with him and his father. His father was talking about the area and the murders that had gone on. He believed the place to be extensively haunted, and that's where i stopped him and told him that, in fact, the place was haunted only by one ghost, and that there were no others. Of course, i had to then explain myself a bit better, but soon enough, i became a big part of their lives and their investigations.

Miles: Whats it like, having this ability?

Mum: It changes from time to time, but in general it's fine.

Miles: Does anything ever scare you anymore?

Mum: In a supernatural sense? Yes, plenty of things. I still don't like sleeping in complete darkness, and i dislike that tingling feeling you get whenever we enter a highly active area.

Miles: What are your thoughts on what i am doing at the moment with the blog and hopefully soon, the book I'm writing.

Mum: I have always said that you and your father make fine story tellers, you are both so open and honest and have a way with words. I think that the blog is fantastic, although i have only really read a few entries here and there, and what you have shown me of the book, well, i can only say that its wonderful, and i am sure that it will do well.

Miles: Thank you mum for doing this.

Mum: No, thank you.

* I spoke to him and he promised to tell me, soon.

End transmission.

So, that's how the interview went down.

I am ensuring that there will be a blog here GUARANTEED every Friday, but keep checking back for little updates on me, my investigations and now, the book.

Don't forget to tell your friends about me and join my facebook group.
