It happens all the time, you move into a new house and it just doesn't feel right. Sure, the kitchens a little bigger, there's more space for your things, but there's just something not right about this new place. Then, one night, maybe it's the first night, you hear something, a creek in the floorboard, something moving, and then you can't sleep. You wake up in the morning and maybe investigate what it was you heard, but you find no evidence to say that the thing you heard last night can be explained. You decide that it was possibly a ghost, maybe this place is haunted, in fact it is. At that point, with no evidence to the contrary, you decide that your house is haunted and every noise you hear at night, every weird feeling you get, you can blame it on the ghost. Every night you leave the butter out or the television on, you can blame it on the ghost. This happens all the time, around the world, people make their own homes haunted, i have met a few of them, and even if you show to them the evidence against their belief, they are convinced.
The other day i met a family friend, Alison Knox, at my aunts birthday party.
She knew, through my aunt, that my father and i were into this sort of thing. So she told us her story.
It sounded like every New house story that we had ever heard.
Until she told us that every morning she wakes up, there is a patch of blood on her bedroom carpet.
Then we were intrigued.
So we heard the story last Friday, and on the Saturday, we were round her house early. We had a walk around the house, and then broke out the equipment.
The rest of the day was dedicated to readings, a little lunch break around four, but still working through until eleven. At that time we headed home, we very rarely stay the first night on a household investigation. The next morning we return, and as it is every morning, there was a small patch of blood on her bedroom carpet, something that wasn't there before as she cleans it up every morning.
My father examined the spot, he's no blood expert, but he said that it did look a lot like blood and that he had no reason to believe that it was anything but. For the rest of the day, we took more readings, and decided that we would stay over that night and hold a video vigil in the bedroom.
At midnight, we finished up our baseline readings and headed to the bedroom. We set up the camera and the new sound recorder we have just picked up.
We waited for a while, but it actually wasn't long before we got some activity. The clear sound of someone walking along the hall could clearly be heard. We didn't want to move and disturb whatever it was, so we stayed still. We could hear movement outside the door, and the hairs on the back of my neck began to stand on end.
The bedroom door opened, i took a deep breath in and held it for what felt like five minutes. slowly the door opened fully, but there was nothing behind it. I checked the tri-meter and the temperature had begun to drop, nothing was happening in the magnetic field. We watched the carpet looking for the blood to appear, but nothing. Then, after about a minute or so, there was this silence in the room, it was like there was no air, i couldn't eve hear the camera recording, so i had to check it was.
BOOM!
Without a moments notice the door slammed shut, it was so loud and quick it even made my father jump. He stood up and said it was over.
We stayed up through the night, continuing to take readings in the bedroom, but everything normal. My father knew that we were not going to see anything new that night/morning, but if we are to return this weekend, or next, we need to continue our baselines.
Alison was downstairs making tea by the time we had finished for the night. We went downstairs and told her that there is no blood on the carpet this morning, but that we believe that there is a presence in her home and we would return to continue to investigate.
She was relieved, she wasn't crazy, and at least, if only for this morning, she doesn't have to clean.
we headed home to go over the footage, unfortunately, nothing really showed up on the camera, only what we saw, the door opening and then slamming shut. Same with the sound recorder - nothing but the door.
We're going to return hopefully next weekend. I'll try and post the video footage soon.

So sorry that this has taken so long to get up. Please check the blog i posted on friday too, just in case you didn't get a chance to read it.
Amen Court
You can't legally enter Amen Court, but that doesn't have to stop you from going in.
I first visited Amen Court a little over two years ago when i was on my way down to the Old Bailey courthouse where i had previously been on an investigation with my father.
It was by mere chance that i had come to Amen corner and walked down it by mistake, ending up Amen Court. Of course, i had never heard of anything surrounding Amen Court, so i left, heading to the Bailey.
When i arrived home, i told my father about Amen Court, and then he told me about what i could have found there.
He told me a story about Newgate Prison, which was situated behind Amen court, and the Black Dog of Newgate.
The Black dog of Newgate has been seen over the centuries. The Dog is thought to date back to the time of King Henry III (1216-72), where there was a famine in London and people were starving. the inmates of Newgate Prison were even more so, and many of inmates turned to eating each other.
Aparently, one night, a young who was imprisoned after being convicted of sorcery, was eaten by the other inmates. it was after his murder that the inmates began to see the apparition of The Dog, hunting them down and driving them crazy. The Dog returned to haunt the Prison on the eve of executions.
My father had never been there, it was one place that he just never got round to going, so i suggested that we went.
The very next weekend, we got up early, got all the equipment ready, all our log files prepared and headed out. We got to Amen court and stopped at the "Do Not Enter" sign. For a moment i think my father actually considered not going in, but then he moved on ahead.
I thought we would probably not make it too far in before we would be stopped by some rent-a-cop, but we got all the way to the far end where the is an ancient wall. Even though many years older than myself, my father was not afraid to climb a wall or two, which we did, and on the other side was the remains of Newgate Prison's "Dead mans walk", the long thin passageway where the prisoners walked to their trials and executions.
There was a weired smell there, it might have been a mix of rotting brick and wood
, but it might have been something else.
We began to take readings from just around the wall, but before we knew it, all the equipment started going nuts, EMF was all over the place. We turned the equipment off and waited an hour. At this point we had no sighting of anything Paranormal.
An hour later, we began again, but the moment anything electrical came on, it started going haywire - we left it going for a little bit, but it never died down. We started sound recording and video. For fifteen minutes we stood there looking at each other, both wondering if this was ever gonna die down. We turned off the equipment and decided to hang around till the evening and then to comeback the next day. We got home and logged all of the data that we had collected. My father said that he had a strong feeling while he was there that it was definitely occupied, even though
We arrived again - over the wall and started our readings. This time, when we turned on the equipment, nothing. Every reading was flat. It was strange, because there should always be some sort of reading on the equipment. we changed the batteries, just in case - but nothing. My father said that he felt that it wasn't a good idea to base any of our findings on the readings that we had, but that we should stick around to see if we can catch a glimpse of the dog. We waited for eight hours, and around 6pm we began to hear a scratching on the wall. It was faint, but a clear scratching sound. We set up the sound recorder and got about three minutes of this sound. We decided to take what we had and call it a day - there was no point hanging round to try and get some baseline readings and the equipment either went crazy or died.
I returned to Amen court late last year, but i got stopped every time i tried to walk down to the wall. I am dying to get back in there and see if anything has changed.
Thanks for reading.

Investigation
Some people have asked how i conduct my investigations, so i though as i am currently about to finish one off, at Horsell Common, I'll sort of go through what it is that i do.
First thing is first, Baselines.
Now my father is strong believer in many things, hell, he's seen so many, there's no way that he can't believe in them. One thing that he strongly believes in, especially when it comes to the paranormal, it's evidence. Regardless of what he might "Feel" about the place, he will side, most of the time, with the evidence. He has taught me that collecting baseline readings, is as important as anything else you do in a investigation.
So....
My Investigation of Horsell began in February of this year, although i had been there a long time ago with my parents before, and the first thing i did was visit the so called "Hot spots" for sightings. I didn't take any readings at this point, just familurised myself with the location really, picturing in my head the stories that i had heard from locals about the figures that they had seen walking the woods. My next destination was the open field in which a martian pod had once landed.....in HG WELLS' novel 'The War of the Worlds', and then it was time to start getting readings. The common covers around 850 acres of mixed terrains, so to get an overall reading, it would take some time. I would spend a couple of hours during the day in one particular place using a TriField meter, which measures Electric, magnetic and microwaves, whilst simultaniously taking readings from a infared thermometer. At all times i have my sound recording equipment on to make not and pick up any possible EVP. I would scout from location to location taking readings, spending hours at a time in a single place, because you need to know what natural occurances happen in you investigation area, to be able to seperate them from any phenomena. Now all of these baselines are not taken from the "Hot spot", because i need to know if there are any natural spikes in the Magnetic field - which there are right by Horsell Birtch, a place where i returned to see if there was any kind of presence, but each time i returned, all i got was the same spike in the EMF. I would assume there is probably some badley laid electricity under the ground - as this is usually the case. I spent the next three days and four evenings walking around taking readings from the same places at different times in order to get a solid baseline. I never visited the HOT SPOTS again on this trip.
I returned in March - three weeks after i had last been there. Once again i began taking my reading almost immediately from the places i had been before, now most of these places surrounded the HOT SPOT, and other than one little spike in the Magnetic Field - there was nothing unusual about any of the readings. Again i spent a few days walking about and taking readings. I snapped off some shots on my fathers 35mm Minolta, a camera that i adore, and he knows it. I got the film developed in a local chemist, hoping that i might have caught something in the darkness that my eyes did not see, but nothing appeared. I knew that when i would return in April, i would have to make my way over to the HOT SPOTS, even if just for one night without any readings being taken.
On April 27th, i returned. Again i did a day taking a few more baselines and then in the evening i walked over to where i was told i would be garanteed a sighting.
Now there are a few stories about Horsell and its spirits. One is of a soldier, who may be one of the ones who was buried at the Muslim Burial ground located in the south east of the common, but his body would have been removed from the grounds in the '60's with all the other.
The other , less heard of one, is of another man, who some locals said he was a hiker who got lost in the 70's. Aparently he's is seen the most, but because people know the story of the soldier, they assume it's him.
So at 8pm, i headed over to one of the HOT SPOTS and waited.
and waited.
and waited.
Nothing. I took some readings and there was nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that differed too much from the surrounding areas.
I returned to my B&B at around 4am, having experienced nothing. I was gutted.
The next day i returned in the early afternoon, this time i headed straight for the HOT SPOT. Readings remained the same for a few hours, but as the sun began to drop, as did the tempreture, something happened.
In the distance i could see a figure, something was definitly there, about 150 yards ahead of me in the tree's, i looked down at the Tri-field meter and there was nothing, the reading remained steady. I was sure what i could see was a ghost, so i began to slowley move towards it.
I got closer and closer, but no strange readings, maybe the meter was broken, and then thats when it happened..
The figure slowley stopped, it turned to almost face me, and the meter went nuts, the thing with the meter is, if the EMF goes above a certain part - it hums, buzzes almost. Immediatly, i turned the meter off as to not scare off whatever it was i had seen. But in that split second that i had looked down to see the reading and turn it off, it had gone, completly.
Damn. The readings had returned back to normal.
I went back to where i was and waited, again, all night. I was now convinced that there was definitly something in these woods, and the next day, i was determined to get something.
I took my trusty camera over and began filming at around sunset - i waited in exactly the same postion, tri-field meter doing nothing and then it happened. The figure appeared exactly in the same spot, i immediatly grabed the camera and started getting closer - the trimeter was on silent, therefore, even know it was going nuts, nothing could be heard, the figure stopped, again it turned round and thats when i stopped. Holding the camera facing the figure, i stood absoulty still. For about 10 seconds we both stood still. Maybe it knew why i was there, probably not, but at this point my heart was racing at a thousand bpm. Right before my eyes it dissapeared, i don't know if i had blinked, but i knew it had gone, i also knew that i had caught everything on camera. I got back to my B&B room and immedialty checked the tape - everything was perfect - up until the point i started moving towards the figure - then the tape became static filled. I had heard of this before - the Magnetic feild surrounding the entity destroying the tape and sometimes the camera, luckily i only lost the tape, but i am determined to get better footage.
I am returning to Horsell soon - this month - and with more than one camera.
------notes-------------
Some have commented that my camera could have been setting of the trifield meter - but my baseline took the camera's activities into consideration.
Also , some will want to see the footage - i will post it along with my Horsell blog.
Thanks for reading - oh and if you are in the UK and know of anywhere that may be haunted , i'd like to know. Email me at cason99@googlemail.com
